Hyundai delivers buses to Turkmenistan

Under a contract with the South Korean Hyundai Motor Company, Turkmenistan recently received buses for interurban transportation for $4.8 million, a source at the Turkmen Transport Ministry told Trend .

The deal envisages the delivery of 30 Hyundai Universe Luxury and Hyundai Universe Noble buses, as well as spare parts.

New Hyundai buses, with 43 passenger seats, have telemonitors, refrigerators, spacious luggage compartments and reserve fuel tanks. This models were chosen to cope with transport routes between the capital city of Ashgabat and regional centers.

Turkmenistan intends to purchase an additional 500 units in the future. A Hyundai office opened in the capital in 200, where new Hyundai super aero-city buses are currently running routes.

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov has paid special attention to expanding the country's bus facilities and equipment. He visited Ulsan while on an official trip to South Korea in November 2008.

Berdimuhammedov also became acquainted with the work of Hyundai Heavy Industries, which produces 15 percent of all the world's ships, including supertankers, container ships and other large-capacity vessels, as well as floating plants on oil refineries and drilling and gas purification facilities.
