Cereals prices up in Kazakhstan in 2008

The plant growing production realized by agricultural companies in Kazakhstan in 2008 increased by 21.3 percent and cattle breeding - by 16.8 percent compared to December 2007, the Kazakh State Agency for Statistics said.

In 2008 cereals prices increased by 22.7 percent. The greatest price hike was observed for rice by 43.3 percent, rye - by 31.6 percent, wheat - by 21.8 percent, oats - by 20 percent, corn - by 19.2 percent, barley - by 18.9 percent, buckwheat - by 7.5 percent and millet - by 4.8 percent" , the ministry said.

Potatoes prices increased by 22.8 percent, vegetables - by 13.8 percent, carrot - by 34.1 percent, beet - by 32.1 percent, bow turnip-shaped - by 28.2 percent and cabbage - by 2.3 percent.
