Azerbaijani banking community to attend crisis management talks

The Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA) will discuss how to cope with the global financial crisis at the third annual Vienna Banking Forum of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eastern Europe in Austria on April 23-25, ABA President Eldar Ismayilov said.

"The list of Azerbaijani participants is being compiled," he said. "I will head a delegation consisting of several Azerbaijani banks."

The ABA will expand its relations with foreign banking communities and loan institutions at the forum, Ismayilov said.

"Azerbaijan's participation aims to better integrate our country into the international community and expand the ABA's cooperation with foreign banking communities," he added.

A major topic at the forum will be ensuring economic stability during the global economic crisis.

Participants will also discuss development and cooperation opportunities for the CIS and Eastern European financial markets and banking systems.

The forum's organizers and co-organizers include: Banking Association for Central and Eastern Europe (BACEE); International Banking Council; Association of Russian Banks; Finance and Banking Council of the CIS; Association of Russian Regional Banks; and Congress Management Network Group.

The forum is held each year with the support of the CIS Executive Committee, European Banking Federation, Austrian Finance Ministry, Russian Central Bank and Austrian National Bank.
