The Azerbaijani Brokers Association intends to reduce amount of membership fees by 20 percent as anti crisis actions, Jamil Melikov, chairman of the Association board and MBASK insurance company, said on Feb. 3.
"Fees are to be reduced from 5,000 manat to 4,000 manat," Melikov said.
Reduction of membership fees will be considered at a general meeting of the Association on Feb. 19, he said. A plan of actions for 2009 will be discussed there as well.
The plan of the Association's actions for 2009 includes trainings for top-management of insurance companies regarding legislation; work of the Association's committee on education; preparation and organization-technical maintenance to hold meetings of the Association's committees; launch of Internet-portal of knowledge on insurance; establishment of E-library on insurance (translation of literature into the Azerbaijani language); preparation, approval and execution of the Association's budget. The plan also controls incoming of membership fees, distributes information and other materials on the Association's activity to its members.
The Association will conduct social polls to reveal insurance problems. It will implement work with insurance organizations on joining the Association and with NGO on mutual cooperation in 2009.
The task of the Association include development of relations with foreign insurers and their national and international unities, business contacts, information interaction and implementation of mutual projects with insurance associations of Russia, Ukraine and Germany.
The II Azerbaijani international insurance forum will be held in 2009.
The first similar forum was held in Baku in July 2008. The forum focused on development of Azerbaijani insurance market, impact of experience of European insurance market on development of Azerbaijani insurance, development of life insurance, analysis of Azerbaijani insurance market as financial system of the country and corporative management in insurance.
All operating insurance companies are presented in the Azerbaijani Brokers Association, except for Qala Sigorta and Az Re reinsurance company. The Association was established in December 2006.
On Feb. 3, the official exchange rate is 0.8071 manat to $1.
