In 2008 the amount of the securities market of Azerbaijan totaled 1.7 billion manat, of which 88 percent fell on the first and 12 percent on the second market, a government report on results of 2008 says.
The Public share in issuance of securities was 61 percent, in its structure the financial sphere occupies large part, particularly third of total issuance of securities fall on the banking sector.
The amount of the debt bonds market in 2008 composed 9.4 billion manat, which is 81 percent higher than 2007, as a result of which the share of debt bonds market in GDP grew 27 percent compared with 19 percent last year.
In 2008 94 percent of the debt bonds market was made up of short term banknotes of the National Bank (85 percent increase over year); 4.8 percent - State short-term bonds (51 percent); 0.5 percent - operations, carried out with the corporate bonds (7 percent), 0.7 percent - circulating notes. During this period the average profitableness of notes was 9.3 percent, profitableness of the State bonds - 10.9 percent, corporate bonds - 12.7 percent.
