Low-quality production totals over 80 percent on Georgia’s consumer market

Counterfeited production totals approximately 80 percent on Georgia's consumer market, Gia Baramidze, manager of the organization granting voluntary license and quality conformance of Biocodex production, said at a press conference on March 12. 

"We took information about calls regarding product intoxication from Tbilisi's Emergency Center, Baramidze said.

Approximately 295 registered calls turned out to be connected with product poisoning. About 154 injured were hospitalized."

This index does not fully reflect the number of product poisoning because people often do not call a doctor, Baramidze said.

"From point of view of product security, the situation is very grave on Georgia's consumer market. Producers together with consumers must worry about improvement of the situation," Baramidze said.
