New council to exercise control over Georgian insurance companies

The activities of Georgian insurance companies will be controlled by the Council on Technical Insurance Issues. The council will be established by presidential decree, Parliamentary Healthcare Committee Chairman Ortar Toidze said. 

The council includes the healthcare minister, deputy ministers and department heads, members of the parliament from the majority and opposition and insurance company representatives.

The council will convene soon.

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said earlier that he is suspicious about the honesty of insurance companies and urged them to stop cheating people.
