The Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport plans to complete operations on construction and reconstruction of all roads main line Baku-Guba-border of Russia (16-198 kilometers) by late 2009, a source close to operations in the ministry of transport said on May 3.
"Operations will complete in December 2009. The project includes concrete plot of road (16-134 kilometers), as well as rest part (134-198 kilometers)," a source said.
Presently, operations are being held within construction of concrete lot of road, a source said. A group of Akkord company implements construction of concrete plot of road.
Construction project of concrete 118-kilometer plot of road Baku-Guba-border of Russia is implemented under financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Total length of road mainline hits 208 kilometer. But it will be reduced to 198 kilometer after its reconstruction.
Initial cost of the project hit $400 million. After decision on construction of concrete road was made, cost of the project increased $800 million.
Roughly 21 bridges and 10 road units are planned to be constructed within constructed plot of road. Thickness of concrete road hits 28 centimeter because of big volumes of freight trasportations in this direction.
