Turkey's inflation will remain under target and the outlook is benign, the country's finance minister said on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

'The inflation outlook is still benign. Inflation is likely to remain on the whole under the target and that is one positive element,' Mehmet Simsek told an investor forum in London via a video-link.

June consumer prices rose at a year-on-year rate of 5.73 percent, still well below the country's end-2009 target of 7.5 percent.

Simsek also said Turkey was continuing to negotiate with the International Monetary Fund on a three-year stand-by arrangement and would push through fiscal tightening measures whether it received financial help from the IMF or not.

Ankara remains locked in talks with the IMF for a loan package that would help the country bridge its funding gap.
