Devices to detect swine flu installed in Azerbaijani airports

The Azerbaijan State Customs Committee (ASCC) installed remote temperature measuring devices in the country's airports to prevent "swine flu" A (H1N1). These devices take body temperature when passing through customs post, first deputy chairman of ASCC Asgar Abdullayev said.

So far, such devices have been installed in airport customs places. Later on, it planed to install devices in all checkpoints of the country, Abdullayev said.

According to Abdullayev, they work together with the Azerbaijani Health Ministry and Agriculture Ministry.

Checking people coming from American continent where "swine flu" is widely spread has been intensified in all checkpoints of the country, Abdullayev added.

Till present, checkpoints have not detected any "swine flu" case, Abdullayev said.

The Azerbaijani Health Ministry confirmed the absence of "swine flu" infection in the country.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report dated June 22, as many as 52,160 cases of laboratory tests were positive to the virus.

Infected people died as a result of 231 cases of swine flu. Roughly 113 cases of A (H1N1) virus were registered in Mexico, 87 cases in the USA, 13 cases in Canada, 7 cases in Argentina, 4 cases in Chili, 2 cases in Australia, as well as 1 case in Dominican Republic of Guatemala and United Kingdom

The main symptoms of A (H1N1) includes fever, which is usually high, but unlike seasonal flu, is sometimes absent cough runny nose or stuffy nose sore throat body aches headache chills fatigue or tiredness, which can be extreme diarrhea and vomiting, sometimes, but more commonly seen than with seasonal flu, signs of a more serious swine flu infection might include pneumonia and respiratory failure.
