Head of European Commission mission to Georgia Per Eklund denied the reports that Georgia is not fulfilling its international obligations.

"Some experts said that the EU reduces the assistance to Georgia due to its failure to fulfill its obligations, and this is a lie," Eklund said on July 14.

He, however, reiterated that the EU will not be able to provide $500 million donor assistance to Georgia in full amount, although a decision on the allocation of these funds in 2009 was made at the donor conference last year.

"This will happen because of internal problems and restructuring in the EU and is not linked with Georgia's fulfillment of its obligations, which are actually fulfilled," said the head of the EU mission.

EU financing for Georgia will be fully restored in 2010, said Eklund.
