Azerbaijan, Baku, July 15 / Trend /

Western Union, one of the global leaders in transactions without opening of the banking account, introduces new tariffs on money transfer within the CIS, including Azerbaijan from 15 July 2009, the company said.

The Company says new tariff fully takes into account current economic situation and the needs of the Western Union customers. New tariffs make the most popular ranges of transferred sums more moderate for Western Union's clients in Russia.

"Over the last few months we observed gradual reduction of average transaction sum transferred to CIS countries that was conditioned with ongoing worldwide decline in economy. It is also confirmed with statistics of the Central Bank of Russia which registered decrease of average transaction sum from Russia to the CIS states to US$418 in the first quarter of 2009, which is less US$183 year-on-year. In this connection we decided to revise our tariffs and are glad now to offer new tariffs which meet current needs," Jonathan Knaue, regional vice-president of Western Union on Eastern Europe and the CIS, said.

Earlier three tariff scales operated on transaction sums transferred from Russia to CIS countries with different range of transferred sums.

The new tariff scale covers all the CIS countries and stipulates single and simplified structure of transaction sums - seven sum range instead f earlier 12, for example in Russia-Uzbekistan corridor. As previously charge for a money transfer transaction is given once by the sender.

"Following results of Western Union's marketing surveys the CIS countries remain as previously one of the most popular direction at the Russian market of money transfers. I am sure that a new simplified and convenient tariff scale will allow us to compete more effectively in this region that is strategically important for business development," Mr. Knaue said.
