33 Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to build cold-storage facilities

The National Entrepreneurship Support Fund (NESF) under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry has received 33 proposals in the tender on July 17 to create cold-storage facilities for storage and sale of vegetables, fruits and other food products in the capacity of two thousand tons each.

"Proposals were received on the four economic areas, including 14 investment proposals from the Aran area, 11 proposals - the Guba-Khachmaz area, and each four from the Ganja-Gazakh and Lankaran areas," Deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov said on the outcome of the bidding procedure.

He said the selected projects will be financed both by entrepreneurs' own funds, and concessional loans by the National Fund and even the Azerbaijan Investment Company or its subsidiaries are expected to attend in this.

The value of investment proposals received by the fund amounts to 1.6 million-3.7 million manats and the NESF's participation in the projects - 1.5 million - 2 million manat.

The outcome of the tender will be announced in the Research Center for Economic Reforms of the Ministry of Economic Development on July31.

So far, the NESF has allocated a soft loan worth $ 1.5 million manats to construct cold stores with the capacity of 10,500 tons products of in the Chukhanli village in the Salyan region, including tomatoes, cucumbers and grapes with a total area of 2,250 square meters. Total project cost amounts to six million manat. Some 60 percent of agricultural products stored here will be sold on the domestic market and 40 percent - on foreign markets. The project will facilitate opening of over 50 new jobs.
