Turkmenistan, Romania ratify convention on double tax avoidance

Turkmenistan and Romania have exchanged the papers to ratify an intergovernmental convention on double taxation avoidance and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital, the official Turkmen sources said.

The ceremony was held at part of the first visit of Romanian President Traian Basescu in Ashgabat, which ended the previous day.

The two countries agreed that there are opportunities for cooperation in the field of transportation and tourism, particularly to establish a transport corridor between the Romanian port of Constanta on the Black Sea and the Turkmenistan port of Turkmenbashi on the Caspian Sea

"Our Romanian friends in this area have a great experience, which is interesting for Turkmenistan, actively developing its tourism infrastructure," said the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov at a meeting with Basescu.

The priorities for economic ties named fuel and energy complex, telecommunications, construction and textile industry.
