The third meeting of the Czech-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial and Scientific and Technological Cooperation took place in Prague on Sept. 21-22, 2009, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.
The Kazakh delegation was headed by Deputy Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Duysenbay Turganov and the Czech by Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Milan Hovorka. The Kazakh delegation included the representatives of the governmental agencies and national companies and the Czech of state economic institutions.
During the meeting the sides summed up the results of decisions taken in the second meeting, reviewed the state of economic, scientific and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries in various areas, including energy, education, science, agriculture, finance, tourism and health.
The metrology institutes of Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic sign a protocol and a memorandum on cooperation. A gala business forum "Day of Kazakhstan's economy in the Czech Republic" was held as part of the intergovernmental commission. More than 130 representatives of the Czech leading companies such as Škoda Auto, Tesla, SMV, Puroklima and CKD Holding attended the forum.
Czech parliamentary chairman Milan Vlcek spoke at the opening of the forum and expressed interest of the Czech side in increasing trade and economic cooperation with Kazakhstan.
Vlcek said Kazakhstan was included in a list of 12 priority countries with which the Czech Republic wants to develop the strategic cooperation in energy, transport and health. During the forum, representatives of the Czech state company Czech Trade announced plans to open its representative office in Almaty in November.
The Kazakh participants of the forum informed the Czech business community about investment opportunities in the country and familiarized them with the activities of Fund of National Welfare "Samruk-Kazyna" and "SK-Pharmacy", the prospects for tourism and concession projects in the field of transport.
Following the forum, the participants expressed confidence that this forum will give impetus to deepen and diversify the bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
