Iranian Minister of Road and Transportation, Hamid Behbahani is heading a delegation to Istanbul for the tenth International Conference on Transportation in Turkey.
He told IRNA news agency on Monday that the conference is very useful and constructive venue for explaining Iran's ongoing and future plans in the transportation sector.
He said that 20 transport ministers and 800 officials from Middle Eastern and European countries are attending the five-day conference and it is a good opportunity for Iran to explicate its transport capacities and foreign investment opportunities as well as the Islamic Republic's future plans in air, sea, road and rail transportation.
Behbahani pointed out that in the Istanbul conference the participating countries explain their transport capacities and problems, adding that in the conference he referred to Iran's 1404 (2025) Outlook Plan which is the country's 20 year program for the expansion of the transportation network.
The minister pointed out that appropriate grounds exist for foreign investment in the expansion of the railway network in Iran. He added that initial agreements have been signed between Iran and foreign companies for six thousand kilometers expansion of the railway network which will be implemented after the agreements are finalized.
The conference started on Sunday and ends on Thursday.
