Individuals' deposit ups in Azerbaijani banks in Aug

Depositary base of Azerbaijani banks decreased 1.5 percent in August, 9.2 percent compared to early 2009 and 4.8 percent in annualized pace, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said.

The CBA said as of Sept. 1, total sum of bank deposits and deposits by enterprises and individuals hit 4.090 billion manat compared to 4.154 billion manat on Aug. 1 and 4.505 billion manat on Jan. 1 2009 and 4.296 billion manat in early September 2008. About 1.530 billion accounted for manat and 2.560 billion manat for currency.

In August, deposits by individuals increased 1.2 percent and juridical entities decreased 4.1 percent. The deposits by individual clients increased 6.3 percent, corporative clients reduced 20.6 percent in January-August 2009. Deposits by individuals increased by 10.8 percent, while deposits by corporative clients dropped by 16.4 percent in the annualized pace.

As of Sept. 1, the deposits of individuals hit 2.024 billion manat from the previous 1.999 billion manat on Aug. 1 and 1.903 million manat in January and 1.826 on Sept. 1, 2008.  

Deposits of legal entities totaled 2.066 billion manat in early September compared to 2.154 billion manat as of Aug. 1 and 2.602 billion manat as of January 1 and 2.470 billion manat as for Sept. 1, 2008.

As of Sept.1, the deposits by individuals in national currency hit 732.4 million manat and 1.291 billion manat in hard currency, by juridical entities - 797.7 million manat and 1.268 billion manat in hard currency.

On Oct. 2, the official exchange rate is 0.8035 manat to $1.
