German entrepreneurs are interested in investments in Azerbaijani agrarian sector: deputy minister

Agrarian turnover between Azerbaijani and Germany increased from €10.3 million to €89 million from 2001 to 2008, head of a department in the German ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, Dietrich Guth said during German-Azerbaijani agrarian business-forum on October 5.  

"Fruits, vegetables and caviar are mainly exported from Azerbaijan to Germany," Guth said.

He said that milk and dairy products, meat and meat foods are imported from Germany to Azerbaijan. Agricultural technique is also supplied to Azerbaijan recently. It allows Azerbaijani agrarian sector to provide effective collection of harvest, as well as processing of agricultural production, Guth said.  

Guth also stressed German entrepreneurs operating in export of racy cattle, construction of fridge stores, etc. participate in today's business-forum.

"All these entrepreneurs are interested in investing in Azerbaijani agrarian sector," Guth said.

There is good potential between Azerbaijan and Germany to develop agrarian cooperation, Azerbaijani deputy minister of agriculture Bahram Aliyev said during business-forum.

"Entrepreneurs from both countries will hold significant meetings today," deputy minister said.

Today German-Azerbaijani agrarian business-forum is held in Baku. About 100 Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and 22 German ones operating in difficult spheres of agriculture participate in the forum.

On October 5, the official exchange rate is 0.8035 manat to $1.
