Unibank started operation with the new system of money transfers LEADER on Oct. 1 thus having extended the list of the analogous international companies and systems it works with to seven, the bank said.

LEADER is one of the top retail money transfer systems that operate with opening bank accounts; LEADER has 7,000 outposts in more than 20 countries including all of CIS, USA, Spain, China, Israel, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey and Estonia.

The distinguishing quality of LEADER is that it combines swift services with minimum costs and reliability guarantees. In addition, in LEADER, only the sender of money pays the transfer fee.

"Providing the quality and competitive services, the LEADER International Money Transfers is oriented for the broadest range of our customers," said Guney Akhundova, the Retail Business Development Supervisor with Unibank.

She said also that the customers of Unibank who will use LEADER can receive inbound transfers in RUR as well as in USD and EUR.

"LEADER uses the modern technologies permitting instant transfers. The tariffs of the system that start at 1.2 percent in Unibank make up one of the chief advantages of this system," Akhundova said.

When money is sent or received via the transfer systems at Unibank, all customers stand the chance of getting bonuses. For instance, anyone who has received or sent $/EUR 500 or RUR 20,000 or more during the day will get the cell phone scratch card as a bonus. This campaign is in effect at all the 24 branches of Unibank including the provincial branches in Ganja, Sumgait, Shamkir, Guba, Mingachevir and Shaki.

Apart from LEADER, Unibank works with seven international money transfer systems: Western Union (connected in 2000), Bistraya Pochta (2005), CONTACT (2006), Faster (2007), XPmoney (2007) and Migom (2008). The turnovers of the Bank on incoming and outbound transfers have amounted to approximately 21 million manat since the beginning of this year representing an increase by 11.5 percent from the corresponding period of last year. As many as 25 retail transfers go through the network of Unibank every year. It should be remembered that Unibank handled the transfers totalling at 27.5 million manat last year.
