On Oct.16, the meeting of the Azerbaijani parliamentary committee on social policy considered changes and additions on increase of retirement age to the law on labor pensions, a source at the parliament said on Oct.17.

Under the Azerbaijani president's legislative initiative, the terms of appointment of the labor pension age was changed in the bill which was submitted to the parliament, head of the committee Hadi Rajabli said.

According to Rajabli, under the current law, men at the age of 62 years and women - 57 years with at least 12 years of length of service insurance could receive the retirement pension.

Under the amendments, for men from Jan.1, 2010 to Jan.1, 2012, and for women -Jan.1, 2010 to Jan.1, 2016, each year the retirement age will be increased by six months and will reach 63 and 60 years of age, respectively.

It is also proposed to change the terms of appointment of the labor pension for disability, counting the amount of pension on reaching retirement age, pension provision of trustees, single fathers who brings up a child, mother of many children and mothers with disabilities.

It is proposed to reduce to five years retirement age for mothers, who brings up a child with disabilities until the age of 8 years, but if she has ten years of length of service insurance.

After discussion it was decided to present the document for consideration to Azerbaijani parliament.
