Baku metro plans to put into operation additional exit of 'May 28' metro station on the street of Salatyn Askerova in December, a source in the metro said on October 31.

"Operations are being held. Additional exit is planned to be put into operation in December 2009, a source said.

At present, an administrative building of Baku metro with technical corps, automatic telephone exchange and controller's office will be built near 'May 28' metro station.

A source said that this building is planned to be put into operation by early 2011. "A new technological building will be put into operation after necessary funds are allocated," a source said.

A source said that additional exit of 'Elmlar Akademiyasi' metro station is planned to be built near Baku State University in early 2010. "The project of additional exit has been prepared. Operations are planned to be held in early 2010," a source said. 

Baku metro will also announce tender for designing additional exits of 'Icheri Sheher', 'Sahil', 'Nizami' and 'Khatai' in early 2010, a source said.

The Baku metro has been functioning since 1967. It has 21 metro stations. The 22-nd station Azadliq Prospect is planned to be put into operation by late 2009.

Other three metro stations, including 'Mushvig', 'Javadkhan' and 'Azadlig' are planned to be constructed soon. Over 40 new metro stations are planned to be built within 20-year-development program of Baku metro.
