Aktau Port increases capacity

The international Aktau Port has increased its capacity, Kazakh Transport and Communications Minister Abelgazi Kusainov said Nov. 3.

"The transshipment of goods via the port of Aktau increased 32 percent," the minister said at a governmental meeting while issuing a report on the development of national transport infrastructure.

The total volume of the port's transportation hit 10.2 million tons of dry and oil loading freights in January-September.

The Aktau port transported roughly 8.4 million tons of oil-loading freights from January-September. Roughly 1.8 million tons of dry freight were transported in January-September.

Roughly 1,521 ships operated at the Aktau Port during January-September.

At present, there are six international sea ports on the Caspian Sea - Baku (Azerbaijan), Astrakhan (Russia), Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan), Aktau (Kazakhstan), Anzali and Neka (Iran).
