Tbilisi court sentences airport director

A Tbilisi court sentenced Tbilisi International Airport Director Konstantin Kamushadze and Accountant David Kobaidze to temporary arrest while an investigation is under way.

Judge Nato Khudjadze granted a petition submitted by the Finance Ministry Revenue Service's Investigation Department asking to take the accused into custody.

Kamushadze and Kobaidze are charged of misusing their positions. They were arrested on Nov. 9 and sentenced to two-months temporary detainment until the investigation has ended. 

According to a Trend source, the accused defalcated 1.5 million lari. Kamushadze also paid himself a salary of 31,000 lari in August and December 2008.

The case is under investigation in accordance with Article 220 of the Criminal Code , which envisages imprisonment to up to five years.
