Kazakhstan, Slovenia ink transport agreement

The governments of Kazakhstan and Slovenia signed an agreement on international transport of passengers and goods by road, the Kazakh Ministry of Transport and Communications released.

"This agreement provides transporting passengers and goods by road between the two countries on the basis of authorization," the ministry reported.

Applying the provisions of this agreement is beneficial to the Kazakh side, as one of the best transport corridors for the carriage of goods from Italy to Kazakhstan passes through the territory of Slovenia.

The agreement was signed with the Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communications Abelgazi Kusainov, with the Slovenian side - Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Zbogar.

"The agreement aims to establish a legal framework for the further development of cooperation in the field of international road transport and facilitation of road transport between Kazakhstan and Slovenia," said the message.

In 2008, volume of cargo transportation from Slovenia in Kazakhstan amounted to 31,000 tons per year, from Italy to Kazakhstan - 44,000 tons per year.

In 2009, the quota for exchange of permit forms amounted to 500 universal and Kazakhstan carriers used - 130 permits and Slovenia - 137 for 9 months of 2009.
