Deposit base of Azerbaijani banks increases more than 10 percent

In October 2009, the deposit base of Azerbaijani banks increased by one percent, since the beginning of the year by 10.5 percent and in annual calculation by 5.5 percent, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said on Dec. 5.

According to the data provided by the CBA, as of Nov. 1, 2009, the aggregate amount of bank deposits and deposits by legal and physical entities totaled 4261.5 million manat compared to 4220 million manat as of October 1, 4760.7 million manat as of January 1, 2009 and 4508.2 million manat as of November 1, 2008. Of this amount, 1590.6 million manat accounted for manat and 2670.9 million manat for the currency.

In October the deposits by physical entities increased by 0.2 percent, and the deposits by legal entities - 1.7 percent. During January-October, deposits from individual customers increased by 11.6 percent, but the corporate deposits declined by 25.2 percent.

As of November 1, 2009 the deposits of physical entities in domestic banks amounted to 2125.7 million manat compared to 2120.8 million manat as of October 1, 1905.2 million manat as of January 1.

As of early November, the deposits of legal entities amounted to 2135.9 million manat compared to 2099.2 million manat as of October 1, 2855.5 million manat as of January 1.
