Azerbaijan gains observer status at European Committee for Standardization

From January 1, 2010, the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan will gain an observer status at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the State Committee said on Dec. 7.

The Committee said that henceforth Azerbaijan will participate in developing European standards, their implementation, developing national standards based on international, as well as at the meetings of technical committees of the organization. The membership will give Azerbaijan an opportunity to get the latest achievements in the technical regulation of the European Union and open broad possibilities for creating country's modern high-quality infrastructure.

The European Committee for Standardization was established in 1961. Currently, the organization has 48 members, including 30 full-right members, 17 - observers and one - partner.
