The Uzbek government temporarily banned the import, sale and use of fireworks with the issuing of a special resolution, a state press service reported.

The decree sets forth measures to regulate fireworks use in the country.

The document is aimed at preventing the use of illegal pyrotechnics and increasing security for the general public, the press service reported.

The government instructed law enforcement, customs, tax and other responsible state agencies to take measures to detect and prevent the use, import and sale of illegal fireworks.

Companies and stores trading these goods will be taken to court.

The relevant ministries and departments will prepare proposals to introduce licenses for the sale of pyrotechnics, as well as classifying these goods over one month.
