The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic's Ecology Department presented information about historical and architectural monuments on oil and gas fields on the Absheron Peninsula.
According to SOCAR Ecology Vice President Mukhtar Babayev, the company prepared an electronic database of oil-polluted lands in 2008.
The oil-polluted lands have been marked off an electronic map.
Babayev said although SOCAR is not responsible for protecting monuments, cooperation with the Ecology Ministry and other municipalities could facilitate defending the environment.
