Azerbaijani insurance company expects drop in premiums

"One of the major Azerbaijani insurance companies - A-Qroup - expects its premiums to decrease by 9 percent as a result of 2009," Managing Board Chairman Anar Bayramov said today 

"We intend to bring premiums to 7.1 million manat as compared to 7.8 million manat 2008," Bayramov said

"We are planning to capitalize the company's profit during the year. It will be premature to name the expected amount of profit," he added

A-Qroup offers services on three obligatory and 14 voluntary type of insurance. The company's authorized capital is 1.55 million manat. In January to October the company has collected premiums worth 5.83 million manat paying claims at 4.2 million manat. The company's weight on payment volumes is 8.9 percent. As of 10 months of 2009 A-Qroup paying claims at 3.76 million manat

On Dec. 25, the official exchange rate is 0.8033 manat to $1.
