Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 25 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

Azerbaijan will start installing a satellite monitoring system in 2010 to oversee all vessels in the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijani Marine Administration head Gudrat Gurbanov said at today's news conference at the headquarters of the New Azerbaijan Party.

"The administration will launch the new system in February or March 2010," he said, adding that Norway is manufacturing the required equipment.

According to Gurbanov, the administration has already appealed to the Azerbaijani government.

The system will ensure navigation safety in the Caspian, monitor ship movement and prevent maritime boundary violations.

The administration will soon raise the issue of maritime security strategy for Azerbaijan, he said. The State Maritime Administration is involved in the strategy's development.
