Uzbekistan announces bid to choose contractor for project on reconstruction of three stretches of A-380 highway

Republican Road Fund at the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan announced a bid to choose a contractor for the project of reconstruction of the three stretches of the A-380 highway with total length of 91 kilometers, the Fund reported.
The report states that the bid winner will gain the right to spent part of the loan provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The bid will be conducted in accordance with the procedures of ADB and "is open to all eligible participants from ADB member countries," the report said.
The bid will run until February 12, and its results will be announced in March 2010.
ADB provided a loan of $75.3 million to Uzbekistan for the project on reconstruction of the three stretches of the Gusar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beineu highway (A-380) worth $173.5 million in April 2008.
The project envisages reconstruction of the highway with a total length of 131 km in the Karakalpakstan autonomous republic in north-western Uzbekistan. Project implementation period is four years.
The loan was provided under the guarantee of the Government of Uzbekistan from the ordinary capital resources of the bank for 24 years, with four-year grace period under preferential interest rate equal to LIBOR plus 0.2 percent.
