19% surge in exports from Hormozgan

The value of exports from Hormozgan Province customs administration offices in the first nine month of the Iranian calendar year (ending December 21) increased 19 percent compared to the same period the year before.

Supervisor of Hormozgan Customs Administration said that in this period over 15 million tons of goods worth some $3.8 billion were exported through the customs offices of the province, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported.

Mehdi Mir-Ashrafi added that most of the products exported included mineral and petrochemical products, copper, ironware, oil solutions and steel.

The export destinations consisted of Taiwan, China and the UAE.

Meanwhile, he said over 8 million tons of products worth some $14 billion were imported into the country which is 12 percent less than the year before.

The imported products include edible oil, chemical material, industrial and road building machinery, raw material for plastic, ironware, electric appliances and gasoline from Taiwan, Germany, India, China, South Korea and the UAE.

Also, transiting over 2 million tons of goods worth about $12 billion from European and American countries to Afghanistan, Russia, Turkey, Pakistan, Central Asia, Kirgizstan and Turkmenistan were other activities carried out in Hormozgan customs during the nine months period.

The transited items consisted of cars, textiles, tires, chemical material, tea, cotton and home appliances.

Mir-Ashrafi said the income from Hormozgan customs was over $200 million during this time showing a 7 percent raise compared to last year.
