In total, about 685 auctions and competitions on sale of municipal lands were held in Azerbaijan in 2009, the Azerbaijani State Committee for Land and Cartography said.
The first two auctions were held in Azerbaijan in March, four auctions - in the Absheron peninsula, eight - in May, 40 - in June, 13 - in July, 23 - in August, 92 - in September, 204 - in October, 209 - in November, 90 - in December.
According to the Azerbaijani President's decree dated Dec. 10, 2008, municipal lands are sold only via auctions. The Azerbaijani State Committee for Land and Cartography deals with it. Earlier, municipalities had this authority.
The contract with a physical or legal entity who won at the auctions or competitions is concluded with local organizations of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Land and Cartography not later than 20 days in accordance with civil and land legislations.
