In 2009 the Employment Service of the Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry has received 46,476 proposals from the unemployed to get jobs, of which 28,382 persons were provided with adequate jobs, the service reported today
In 2009, 5,986 persons were granted the status of unemployed, 5,687 persons were appointed for unemployment benefits in accordance with legislation. During this period, the Ministry sent 4,827 people to the professional training courses, which is 42 percent more than the indices in 2008. Some 1,598 people received paid public work in 2009.
The Ministry held labor fair in Azerbaijan (57 cities and the regions), including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 2009 and 3,022 companies offered vacancies. The companies offered in the regions 24,190 vacancies as a result of 8,132 people were provided with jobs, 866 were sent to the professional trainings and 149 were attracted by paid public work
In Baku, Ganja, and the Absheron region of Azerbaijan the Ministry carried out events under the slogan "First step in the career" to support alumni and students. Some 470 companies offered 2,351 vacancies as a result of 431 people were provided with job
In 2009, 3,938 unemployment including 2,182 women, 1,875 teenagers, 186 refugees and IDPs and 32 disable people were provided with job through the labor exchange in Baku, Ganja, Sumgayit and Mingechveir regions
