Uzbekistan, Tashkent, January 11 / Trend , D.Azizov /

From January 1, 2010 retail sales of new imported cars in Uzbekistan will be carried out only by legal entities - the official dealers of manufacturers, says the decree by the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on the forecast of key macroeconomic indicators and parameters of 2010 Public budget of Uzbekistan.
"The sale of new imported vehicles will be implemented only by legal entities - official dealers of manufacturers," the document says.

Sales of imported new vehicles in the country do not exceed 3-5 percent of total sales, and make up 3,600 units per year with potential market units - 100-130,000. Thus, individuals provide 70 percent of the volume of imports and sales of new cars.

According to the official car dealers operating in the country, the measures will help strengthen the legal conditions of sales of foreign cars.

At the same time, one of the major problems associated with sales of new foreign cars in the market of Uzbekistan by the official car dealers is the question of conversion to their revenue, while individuals sell foreign cars for cash hard currency, the turnover of which is carried out on the "black" market.

In November 2009, management of AvtoVAZ, GAZ Group and OAO Sollers, appealed to the government of Russia with a request to introduce a number of restrictive measures in Russia against imports of cars of GM Uzbekistan (Asaka, Andijan region) in response to restrictions, introduced in Uzbekistan on the sale of foreign cars in the country.

Since September 1, Uzbekistan has introduced higher customs duties on car import into the country.
