CBA's currency reserves increase by $5 billion

The currency reserves of the Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA) decreased by $961.4 million or 15.7 percent to $5175.6 million in 2009, the CBA reported.

The CBA's currency reserves were $6,137 million in late 2008.

As of December, the CBA's currency reserves fell by 0.1 percent compared to November. The reserves hit $5181.1 million Nov. 30.

In 2009 the CBA expects to obtain $50 million in revenues from the funds under its management. Over the first half year, the CBA's revenues hit $23 million.

The country's strategic reserves exceed $20 billion, including the assets of the State Oil Fund of the Azerbaijan Republic, worth $15 billion.
