British-Azerbaijani insurance company's premiums reduce by 40 percent

Thames Insurance Group's premiums hit 0.925 million manat in 2009 or 41.8 percent lower compared to figure of 2008, company Chairman Samir Mustafayev said today 

Payments hit 0.75 million manat in this period, Mustafayev added

In 2008, premiums of the company made up 1.59 million manat with 0.29 million manat in payments.

According to Mustafayev, majority premiums the company collected from cargo, medical and car insurances  

The company intends to collect premiums worth 1.2 million manat in 2010, Mustafayev said

The Thames Insurance Group CJSC operates in Azerbaijan since 1996 and has shareholders both in Azerbaijan and UK. Azerbaijan's share in the company is 51 percent, which is owned by the Gala Investment and 49 percent of share belong to British Glencarron Group Limited

The company's authorized capital is 900,000 manat

The company became founder of the Anglo-Kyrgyz Insurance Company in Kyrgyzstan in 2004. Presently Thames Insurance is the only Azerbaijani insurance company, acting as a founder of a subsidiary company abroad

On Jan. 12, the official exchange rate is 0.8029 manat to $1.
