Belarus to sign big contract with Turkmenistan

During the visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Belarus the two sides have agreed to sign a large contract on the delivery of the Belarusian equipment to Turkmenistan, MAZ Deputy Director General Vladimir Lyusikov told media on 26 January.
Belarus to sign big contract with Turkmenistan

During the visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Belarus the two sides have agreed to sign a large contract on the delivery of the Belarusian equipment to Turkmenistan, MAZ Deputy Director General Vladimir Lyusikov told media on 26 January, Belta reported.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid a visit to the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) to get familiar with the company's lineup as well as the products of other Belarusian companies, namely, Amkodor, MAZ-Kupava, Belkommunmash. The Turkmen leader plans to visit the Minsk Tractor Works and Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant on 26 January.

According to Vladimir Lyusikov, MAZ plans to build a maintenance center for the Belarusian equipment in Turkmenistan. The center will also provide spare parts for the Belarus-made vehicles.

Vladimir Lyusikov added that the two countries had not yet discussed the opportunity of setting up joint assembly facilities. Belarusian buses are to be exported to Turkmenistan for the first time. Turkmenistan has imported 1,000 MAZ trucks for the last three years.

Minsk Automobile Plant was created in 1944. It was converted into an open joint-stock company in 2009. At present the parent enterprise employs around 27,000 people. MAZ offers over 250 modifications of automobiles, including truck tractors, high-sided trucks, medium-capacity automobiles, dump trucks, log trucks, short log trucks, cross-country vehicles, automobiles fit for special equipment as well as buses and trolleybuses.
