The Azerbaijani government and the World Bank are continuing work to finance a project to expand the Baku-Shamakhi Highway, the ministry's AzerYolServis said.
Under the projects, a report on environmental impact has been designed.
The highway's length is 124 kilometes. Construction of the road will cost $90.11million. Some $72.09 million will be paid by the WB and $18.02 million will be invested by Azerbaijan.
The Transport Ministry has made new calculations in connection with increasing the project value and creating an extra two lanes on the highway.
Baku-Shamakha-Mugan will connect Baku with the country's western regions.
The project's main goal is to cut transport expenditures, increase access, transit and security to Azerbaijani East-West corridor.
