The first meeting of the Iran-Turkey working group to establish a joint industrial estate was held in Tehran on Saturday.

Iran''s Small-Scale Industries and Industrial Estates Organization Director Khodamorad Ahmadi and Turkey''s Artisanship and Small Industrial Sites General Director Ramazan Yildirim reviewed different aspects of the plan, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.

The two sides stressed the fast implementation of the plan as a means to give a boost to the two-way trade and economic ties.

Turkish State Minister Cevdet Yilmaz said early this month in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki that Turkey aimed at opening a "golden age" in Turkish-Iranian relations.

Yilmaz said Turkey and Iran were two "friend and brother" countries, adding that the development of bilateral relations would make positive contributions to the stability and prosperity in the region.

The trade volume between the two countries exceeded 10 billion dollars for the first time in 2008, but decreased to 5.5 billion dollars in 2009 due to the fallout from global economic recession.

Turkey and Iran aimed at raising the trade volume to as high as 30 billion dollars within five years.
