In January Georgia recorded a 75-percent growth in exports, Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said at the governmental meeting.

"This figure reflects the overall growth of exports, rather than one of any product, and this is a very healthy figure," he said.

The minister said transportation increased by 10 percent in January compared to the same period of 2009.

"This indicates that economic activity is growing not only in Georgia but throughout the region" he added.

He also noted that in February the country  recorded increased activity in the real estate market (11 percent), automotive market (11.7 percent) and the mortgage market.

"We can confidently say that the recession ended and we expect significant growth in the economy in the first quarter of 2010, "he said.

Gilauri said that tax revenues increased by 9 percent and increase taxes on the value added tax was 135 percent.
