Azerbaijani and Iranian Customs Services increase efficiency of people and vehicles movement through checkpoint

Azerbaijani and Iranian Customs and Border Services have discussed the problems which occurred in connection with the removal visa regime for citizens of Azerbaijan who wish to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran based on an agreement between the two countries from the first day of February, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan said.

Azerbaijani and Iranian Customs and Border Services have discussed the problems which occurred in connection with the removal visa regime for citizens of Azerbaijan who wish to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran based on an agreement between the two countries from the first day of February, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan said.

Date of visa-free stay of Azerbaijani citizens in Iran is 15 days, and it is possible to extend this period to three months by contacting the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

At the meeting both sides put forward their proposals to eliminate the occurred problems in order to ensure the normal entry and exit of citizens and cars and trucks.

According to the proposals of the Azerbaijani side, passing of passenger buses which travel from Iran through Azerbaijani Customs, daily conduct of registration of cars by insurance companies, elimination passengers' time loss problem, as well as ensuring stability of trucks' passing through customs control were considered reasonable.

At the meeting it was decided to hold a lunch break by members of the Azerbaijani and Iranian customs authorities, which was scheduled from 12:30 to 14:00.
