Intellectual transport managing systems to be created by spring in Baku

The creation of intellectual transport management systems in the capital of Azerbaijan will end in April, 2011, Chung Jong-hwan, South Korean Minister of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, said in Baku today. The system will be created to regulate and to manage passenger transport in Baku.

"This project is being successfully implemented and is to complete next year, exactly in April 2011," Hwan Chung said.

"This is a very important project and the similar one is being successfully implemented in Seoul. It will be possible to achieve tremendous successes by applying this system in Baku. Then you will see changes in the transport sector," the Minister noted.

The project is estimated at approximately 64 million manat.

The Ministry launched the construction of the intellectual centre in Baku last spring.

The Dispatch Center by the analogy of the Urban Transport Center in Seoul is being built on the agreement signed between the SK C & C and the Ministry of Transport. In the first phase the center will be focused in Baku, and will further cover the Absheron peninsula.

The Transport Ministry began work on the construction of intelligent control center in Baku in the spring 2009. Center for dispatching an analog of the Urban Transport Center in Seoul based on the agreement signed between the Korean SK C&C and the Transport Ministry. In the first phase the center will focus on Baku and in the future will cover the Absheron Peninsula.

As part of the intellectual system of the city, it is planned to install about 450 new bus stops with electronic boards which will give opportunity to monitor traffic and bus routes (through satellite). Displays and cameras, installed at the bus stops, will be used for monitoring effectiveness of the bus stop locations, its necessity and use by the population. Intelligent system involves the installation of about 150 new electronic traffic lights.

According to research, as a result of introduction such system the number of traffic lights and bus stops will be rationalized. Their number has already decreased as a result of the construction of bridges, pedestrian passages. The system will allow sending operational information about the movement of vehicles, speed, stops, traffic accidents, traffic jams and other cases to the central control room.
