Crew of Russian vessel fired on Caspian Sea evacuated

The fire was extinguished and crew of 'Kayakend' vessel, sailing under the flag of Russia and registered at the port of Makhachkala was rescued with the assistance of ships and helicopters of the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet company of SOCAR and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Azerbaijan State Maritime Administration said today.

The fire was extinguished and crew of 'Kayakend' vessel, sailing under the flag of Russia and registered at the port of Makhachkala was rescued with the assistance of ships and helicopters of the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet company of SOCAR and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Azerbaijan State Maritime Administration said today.

SOS signal from the vessel was at 02:00 a.m. Baku time.

Presently, the fire on board was fully extinguished. Crew of "Kayakend" vessel reached the shore at "Kura" (nine people) and "Whirlwind" (6 people) vessels. After the rescue vessel will be taken in tow and delivered to the port of Baku to investigate the causes of the accident.
