The South Korean unit of General Motors, GM Daewoo, is recalling thousands of cars with manufacturing defects, Press TV reported.
GM Daewoo says it will initially recall nearly 60,000 vehicles sold in South Korea.
Faulty steering wheels and defective supply pipes are said to be the reason behind the move.
The recall involves the Chevy Cruz and the Captiva sports utility vehicle (SUV), the company said, adding the move may later be expanded to cars sold abroad.
"GM plans to recall models with these problems in other countries," a GM Daewoo official said.
"Free repair services would be provided to owners of such vehicles from Monday," South Korea's Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said in a statement.
