To support the training and retraining, European Union have transferred the first tranche of €6 million to public budget of Georgia.

A source at the European Commission office in Tbilisi told Trend that the tranche was transferred after the government has satisfied all the basic conditions for the aid. In particular, consultations were held in the regions regarding training and retraining, with the participation of government institutions, non-governmental sector and the social partners, medium term strategy for training and retraining (2009-2012) was approved, consultations began with civil society and the report on the analysis of the situation with the training and retraining was made publicly available.

Funding will improve the training and retraining, as well as allow more people to integrate into the labor market, develop the infrastructure.

6 million euros is the first tranche of 17 million assistance, which is intended for the Georgian public budget in 2009-2012, and additional 2 million euros is envisaged for the Ministry of Education and Science and other key actors in the training and retraining in the form of technical projects.
