Volume of goods transit through Iran to Turkey ups by 14 percent

In 2009, the volume of goods transit from Iran through the Bazargan customs checkpoint (in Iran new year begins from March 21) grew by 14 percent, Bazargan Customs Point Head Rahim Gulamian said, Mehr reported.

According to him, in 2009, 55,000 trucks (17 percent growth) and 1, 013,129 tons of goods (14 percent) passed through the checkpoint.

According to him, in 2009, about 219,000 trucks, of which 60 percent belong to Turkey, 35 percent - Iran and 4 percent - to other countries passed through the Bazargan customs office.

In 2009, 1.5 million passengers passed the customs office which is higher by 37 percent compared to 2008.

The Bazargan customs office is located in the West Azerbaijan Province at 20 kilometers distance from the city of Maku bordering Turkey.
