Azerbaijan to step up efforts to introduce European standards in food production

Online network soon should be created on the basis of the standards fund that was established in Baku should to make use and prompt of information more efficient, Head of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov said during the collegium on the results of the activities in the first quarter.
"It is also necessary to implement technical terms complying with international standards in food products in the short term," Hasanov said.
He said the introduction of European standards in this regard is an important element to ensure the output of local producers to foreign markets and expand export capacity.
Hasanov said currently, the committee conducts laboratory tests for microbiological standards of food products, although these tests should also cover other parameters food.
Regarding this, the Azerbaijani Standards Institute should discuss the introduction of European standards, Hasanov said.
