Azerbaijan's industrial production ups by 5.2 percent in Jan.-April

In January-April of 2010, the amount of industrial production in Azerbaijan hit 9.6 billion manat, which is 5.2 percent higher than the same period of 2009, the State Statistics Committee reported.

In January-April of 2010, the amount of industrial production in Azerbaijan hit 9.6 billion manat, which is 5.2 percent higher than the same period of 2009, the State Statistics Committee reported.

The amount of production in the extractive industry increased by 5.1 percent to 7.47 billion manat (with weight 77.7 percent).The specific weight of the processing industry hit 16.4 percent, gas and power engineering - 5.4 percent and water sector - 0.5 percent.

The growth of the oil production by AIOC increased 6 percent and amounted to 13.9 million tons and gas production decreased by 6.9 percent and amounted to 3.7 billion cubic meters.

During this period, share of the private sector increased by 4.4 percent and hit 82.2 percent of the total industry production.

The amount of the production in processing industry increased by 9.9 and amounted to 1577.8 million manat. During the reported period, significant growth was observed in food products production. The production of pasta in the country increased by 10 percent to 4739.9 tons, meat - 3.9 percent (82,100 tons), milk - 3 percent (211,900 tons), butter - 0.9 percent (7,000 tons), and jams and preserves - at 12,4 percent.(2,300 tons), vegetable oil - 16.4 percent (14,200 tons).
