In January-April the volume of construction works amounted to 958.7 million manat in Azerbaijan. This figure is 18 percent more compared to the same period of 2009, Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.
The construction works in the public sector amounted to 307.1 million manat and in the private sector - 651.6 million manat.
Some 675 million manat (70.4 percent) of the total construction works, account for the primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 183.2 million manat (19.1 percent)- capital repair, 55.6 million manat (5.8 percent)- current repair and 44.9 million manat (4.7 percent)- other construction work.
In January-March, about 55,500 people were involved in the construction sector of Azerbaijan. During this period nominal wage level in the construction sector amounted to 495.7 manat, which is 8.8 percent more than the first quarter of 2009. Nominal wage levels in big and medium construction companies amounted to 529.1 manat, in public companies - 344 manat. The level of wages in the sphere of construction of buildings increased by 15.6 percent over the year, in the specialized construction by 1,3 percent.
